Ride a Bike Go to Jail

NSW bikie laws rushed through Lower House

The legislation will allow police to seek a court order to make membership of a declared bikie gang illegal. Members who continue to associate with each other face jail for two to five years.” – ABC News, Thu Apr 2, 2009.

Remember when the anti-terrorism legislation was introduced with assurances that it was for our own good, would only apply to terrorists, safeguards were in place to protect innocent people and it would never apply to others? Then we had the Haneef debacle? Well now we have something akin called the CRIMES (CRIMINAL ORGANISATIONS CONTROL) BILL 2009!

In what can only be described as the biggest kneejerk (and other parts of the anatomy) reaction of the century, and despite serious concerns raised by the New South Wales Council of Civil Liberties and the Law Society of New South Wales, our politicians have shown their blatant contempt for civil rights and inaptitude to govern! The similar, and now lesser, South Australian laws are yet to be fully exercised and are the subject of a High Court action yet NSW is out to prove itself to be bigger, badder and foolproof… all in the blink of an eye! By their own admission, according to hansard, quite a few of those who supported the bill also had serious reservations about it, but still, there’s obviously no need to contemplate such serious and far reaching legislation because ours is better than the anti-terror and South Australian laws put together!

Which beggars the question – Who is going to enforce these draconian laws? Despite being granted a bigger and bigger stick to wield, via strengthening of new and existing laws over the last decade, the NSW Police Farce can’t keep up? If they fail to keep tabs on outlaw motorcycle clubs while they’re riding around in public with an equivalent of neon lights plastered all over there backs then how the fuck are the coppers going to see them when they turn those lights off? Are they really so naive as to think they’ll go away? Talk about sticking your head in the sand!

This whole exercise is about police and politicians failing to do their respective jobs and trying to save face to a media manipulated general public. There’s already a plethora of laws in place to deal with what the government and law enforcement seems unable to do. There’s absolutely no excuse to penalise the innocent along with the guilty based on purely speculative evidence presented to a supreme court judge.

Far-Kew ReesFar-Kew Rees! Wake up and smell the waratahs! Already innocent bikers are being targeted in the form of road rage and discrimination. We all know it’s only a matter of time until multiple roadside checks are the daily norm and other minority groups are targeted. May you rest in peace, because we’ll still have a beer with whomever we fuckin’ choose!

  1. This bill is bad news. Just like after the September 11 attacks, the government used that as an excuse to take peoples civil liberties away by broadening the definition of “terrorist” in their anti-terror laws. In the U.S. those laws are now being used against anyone who speaks out against the government. This is the same thing with the proposed bikie laws – media hypes up the minor scuffles etc then the government pushes through tyrannical laws with ease thanks to the media scaring the public – now the laws will be used as a precedent against the general population when shit hits the fan economically in this country and people start rebelling against the government. I know my politics and history. I don’t care if you’re a bikie or not, we are ALL entitled to the same freedoms/rights…birth rights. Guess i’m preaching to the converted on here. I’m just pissed.

  2. I read yr article, and just want to say…… Half the bikies are fuckheads, undereducated bogans who do nothing but dodgy shit. Well known fact…….and if you are a bikie who hasn’t done anything I doubt you would get in much trouble anyways. Its the bikies who do sell and make drugs, bash people and don’t obey laws who should be blamed……if not for them I am sure we wouldn’t need such laws. Sure its easy to blame the government, and make a website that will have a winge about it, but I bet you if you were in power you’d shit yourself and wouldn’t know where to start. Don’t we always hear these wankers wingin about what government does but themselves have no real solutions???? If they do, why don’t they make an effort and write to their state mp and if it worries them so much. To fight it. To the guy with above comment…..Are you a law expert mate? Do you know of any specific cases where terrorism law was used against anyone and fucked their life up? give me one example you know of……or did you sit home on the couch with a bong watching conspiracy theorys??? For someone who knows history and politics!!!….
And so you know, I am not saying everything government does is right. But whats worse is people that talk empty talk, stir things up and dont have any solutions!

  3. Heya fantastic blog! Does running a blog such as this require a
massive amount work? I’ve no understanding of coding however I had been hoping to start my own blog in the near future. Anyway, should you have any ideas or techniques for new blog owners please share. I know this is off topic but I just had to ask. Kudos!

  4. 6 feet under is so good at destroying your prcponeections. I loved the part where one of the bikies told a story of his friend deliberately crashing his own bike so that he wouldn’t hit his friend who had fallen on the road just ahead of him. That’s the kind of guy he was.
